A Challenge from A.W. Tozer

The devil is a better theologian than any of us, and is a devil still.
A.W. Tozer

What a sobering thought. I can get my theology right and still perish eternally. While those who know nothing correct about God or the gospel cannot be saved, knowledge by itself avails nothing.

The solution? In the words of Martin Luther in the 95 theses:
When our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, said "Repent!", he called for the entire life of believers to be one of repentance....As long as hatred of self abides (i.e. true, inward repentance), the penalty of sin abide, viz., until we enter the kingdom of heaven....Any Christian whatsoever, who is truly repentant, enjoys plenary remission from penalty and guilt.
The Christian life is one of continuous repentance, and this repentance is sufficient to enjoy freedom from guilt in this life, and eternal life in the age to come.

May God have mercy on your soul and mine.
